I was 12 years old at the time and Friday Night Videos had been on TV for a few months, coming on after Midnight every Friday. Sometimes I sneakily stayed awake to watch it since we didn't have that fancy new MTV cable channel. I had heard commercials for a week about the debut of Michael Jacksons 14 minute 'Thriller' video and I was determined to stay awake to watch it. Friday, December 1st, 1983 I sat quietly in my room, unbeknownst to my mother, and eagerly awaited the show to start at 12:30am (technically Saturday!). I stood so close to the TV in my room so I could keep the volume down and not awaken my mom. I was riveted and mesmerized for the whole 14 minutes. And after it was all over, I turned off the TV and fell asleep a happy little girl, yet the memory remains until this day. :)
